What Is Ratepura?

Ratepura is an independent Canadian financial comparison site. We help Canadians find the best savings account rates, GIC rates, mortgage rates, and credit cards by doing the research and presenting it clearly — without bias, sponsored rankings, or hidden agendas.

Canada’s financial product landscape is crowded and often confusing. The big banks spend billions on marketing, but their savings rates and GIC rates are consistently among the lowest available. The best rates are often at smaller digital banks and credit unions that most Canadians have never heard of. Ratepura exists to close that information gap.

Our Mission

To help Canadians earn more on their savings and pay less on their debt — by surfacing the best rates and products available, updated regularly, with no paid placements and no hidden bias.

Our Standards

• CDIC and regulated institutions only: Every institution in our primary comparisons is a CDIC-member financial institution or a provincially regulated credit union. We are clear about which regulatory body covers which institution. We do not feature unregulated or lightly regulated products in our rankings.
• Daily rate monitoring: Our rate bridge system monitors rate changes at key institutions continuously. Comparison pages are reviewed weekly and updated within 24 hours of a material rate change.
• No paid placements: Institutions cannot pay to rank higher, appear as a “best pick,” or receive editorial benefits. Rankings are based solely on product quality.
• Transparent affiliate disclosure: When you click through to a financial institution and open an account, Ratepura may earn a commission. This is disclosed prominently on every comparison page. It does not affect our rankings.

How We Make Money

Ratepura earns affiliate commissions through Fintel Connect, a Canadian affiliate network for financial publishers. When you click a comparison link and open a qualifying account or product, the financial institution pays Ratepura a referral fee. You pay nothing extra — there is no cost to you for using Ratepura.
